I truly appreciate your videos. In fact, your issue you had with your tire carrier is why I went with Poison Spyder Custom Rock Brawler II. A bit pricey but among many features it has sealed trailer bearings in the pivot point vs. a lubricated sleeve and pinion. Sorry to see you have such an issue with yours, but I learned from your misfortune. Thanks.
Hey CPO, I'm getting ready to order both front and rear bumpers with the tire carrier. What kind of lubrication do you use, if any? I was thinking about using marine grease maybe once a month on the hinge. I've read issues where the carrier might seize up due to lack of lubrication.
This bumper is not worth buying. The so-called powder coating flaked and chipped in months. The fact that the swing arm has no grease fitting is another, it was not long before the grease wore and hardened making it next to impossible to function. The aluminum handle wears down quickly and rattles and looks like crap...The company will sell me another on at a $45 discount...I will junk it in the spring and buy a Poison Spyder rear bumper with tire carrier.....This Barricade bumper is JUNK...
This bumper/tire carrier is Chinese oem trash, rebranded by 10 other companies. Powder Coating will flake and peel within a year. What a joke! Look at the monstrosity welds, smh. Piece of advice...don't base your purchase on someone doing a review of a product from a company that sponsors the reviewer's videos. You should be ashamed of yourself, endorsing this trash and call yourself a Jeeper.
The bumper looks great and I love your videos but couldn't help but notice how much rust you already had forming on top of the bumper on the pinion side 13:41 2 week update.
Like your attitude regarding products and the installation process, its realistic. After watching your video I might be inclined to use either the supplied bolt and cap or maybe even better a longer bolt and heavy washer into the pivot post to aid in pulling the carrier down on the post while simultaneously pivoting. Always like your videos.
Hi I installed the same bumper after watching your video, since I installed this I have been getting a lot of squeaky noises from the back...did you experience this issue?
Great videos. I installed my bumper and tire carrier last Sunday. My bumper and tire carrier was packaged very well. All protrusions had hard plastic covers, zero defects in the finish. I made the install per you directions and prep. The only problem I had was the mounting hole for the spare tire carrier was 0.002" too small for the pintel on the bumper. A couple of hours with a brake cylinder hone and problem solved.
Was thinking of getting the tire carrier but even with a bicycle lock they can remove it from the swivel. Wont work for me. Oh and i love your protective foot wear lol
Ty so much CPO! Awesome stuff man

ReplyDeleteWould have been nice if ET had put a Zerk fitting into the pivot post.

ReplyDeleteThat was weld distortion it means there was full penetration of the weld.
