This is the video that everyone has been asking for! This is the how-to for my 3rd brake lights on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler JKU. You don't have to do it the way I did, but it should give you a good idea on how to get started!
Here's what I used in my build:
LED Lights:

Very Cool Idea!! I wonder if I could get away with purple LED Lights?
ReplyDeleteLove it! Thanks for the video, very well put together. You rock dude!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a patreon account? I'd love to donate to help support you to keep making these amazing, helpful video!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the video, your way is much easier than all the other ones that I looked up. Great work, keep it up.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job. Thank you
ReplyDeleteGreat video! Could you post links or part numbers for the LEDS, grommets, and connectors you ended up using?
ReplyDeleteGotta do this to my TJ. Awesome vid thanks so much
ReplyDeleterear bumper?
ReplyDeleteyou should've or could've used the stock 3rd brake light harness and kept from having to run a lot of wiring. Just what i was thinking of, but either way im going to do this to mine
ReplyDeleteSweet, going to try it
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the wire cover (what you ran along your carrier)?
ReplyDeletePretty trick set up *CONGRATS* hopefully some TOAD will not rear end you. NICE VIDEO BROTHER
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice BRO! Doing my fenders this weekend on my JK 2015 Sahara Tank. Thank You
ReplyDeleteVery cool. fyi for future people doing this for 8 equal parts, just cross perpendicular through the center top bottom, then 90 degrees to that through the center...then diagonally again through the center left top to bottom right and then bottom left to top right. Simple geometry if you think about it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. Looks great. What size resister do I use?
ReplyDeleteSorry. So what size resistor that is.
ReplyDeleteGot all the parts, just one more question. I like how you routed the wires, and I'm going to attempt to stay as neat as you did. You mentioned soldering the wires in groups of four. Did you just twist them together as if you were going to put a wire nut on, then solder instead? And I'm guessing that you included an extra jumper in each group to connect the two groups of four, correct? Then electrical tape over the solder joint, or did you use shrink wrap or something? Thanks again
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the detailed video! This was our afternoon project on my jeep and it came out awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou just gave me another project. Thank You
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, when you click on the link for the Mr Gasket, the other two items are listed under the "Frequently Bought Together" section. 😀
ReplyDeletesweet should market that!
ReplyDeleteFirst, thanks for the inspiration, I have used this to setup my brake light the same way! Have you run into any legal issues with this? I can't seem to find that it is a violation of state DOT but not sure if it is a violation of Federal DOT third brake light laws. Thanks for any comments you can provide and keep the videos coming.
ReplyDeletedid your lights start looking yellow after a while instead of red. mine look yellow now for some reason
ReplyDeletethat looks great where did you buy the lights can you please give me a website
ReplyDeleteHey this video is great and much appreciated. I tried doing the same thing but I can't get all the lights to work, I currently have 6 out of the 8 working. Any thoughts on what could be wrong??
ReplyDeleteYou should swith the brake light bulbs to led as well to get them all to switch on right away when you apply the brake. Pretty cool idea!
ReplyDeletethat looks awesome

ReplyDeleteGreat mod and excellent description. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteEver think about making these things and selling them? I would pay for a plug and play setup.
ReplyDeleteI would be careful about moving the license plate as you get the wrong cop out there and he will ticket you for not having the light on the license plate.
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial and thanks for the links. Does anyone know of a connector that will work with one connected to the third brake light? For what I'm doing it would be much easier to run off of the factory wiring. I don't have a swing away tire carrier.
ReplyDeletegood video however you could have just installed the dust cover put tire over it and marked the positions for the lights . but measuring works too
ReplyDeleteFor anyone who is wondering i have made almost this same exact one but it is in fact a PLUG AND PLAY waterproof system! No wiring is needed. Although if your looking to keep your 3rd brake light over the tire it will require one small hole drilled in a un noticeable spot. For more info email me at Markr9889@gmail.com or check into my video I will post soon on Kleanr6. Thank you God bless
ReplyDeletelove this setup, would love to have this, I have thr MT sidebiter II wheels and would look great
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Sweet Jeep
ReplyDeleteAwesome great idea
ReplyDeleteVery nice made, nice idea :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks awsome man.
ReplyDeleteQuestion here. Do the LEDs also work as running lights? sorry if this question has already been answered, already tried searching a few pages down.
ReplyDeleteHow about an update video brother.
ReplyDeleteDude I was just in your area.. We ate at the Boat Yard bar and grill on 4th eh. I just ordered a bumper with tire carrier on Amazon by Tuff Stuff.. Lets see how that goes, but l will check the carrier core and post for burrs eh. Where did you get the LED 3rd break lights from? By the way I'm in Lynchburg va.
ReplyDeleteI have to say as a first time Jeep owner loved your videos. They were very simple and easy to follow. I am ordering my front and rear bumpers thanks to your video..
ReplyDeleteHey Dude thanks for the idea. I put that plan to motion and mine turned out great......... I used ABS plastic to make mine though. I looked at the dust cover and you were rite it was not made very thick and I did not like that. Thanks again. keep on JEEPING. Sarge from MidSouthJeepClub.com
ReplyDeletedid this on my 13 jk. looks amazing thanks for the video.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the video, will give it a go.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the measured diameter of the dust cover, and what size wheels are you running? I noticed my 17" Rubi wheels have a 15" inner diameter. I want to run LED's to the very edge to light up the 5 wholes near the wheel lip, as well as the bigger whole, totaling 10 LED's. I see it looks like you have an inch of extra space between wheel and dust cover. Great video, you've inspired me to tackle this.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea!! I done it on my JK and it looks awesome. People are always asking about it.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered the same parts to set mine up. Great video, thanks.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know of something like this that comes sold already built and ready to go?
ReplyDeleteWhat wheels are those (and size)? LOVE THEM!
ReplyDeleteWhen you cut a pizza in 8 slices, do you calculate the circumference? Just cut it in half and half again and so forth; no mental math required Chief.... Great concept and execution and that's what counts...
ReplyDeleteREPPIN THE THIN BLUE LINE!!!! Way to be man!
ReplyDeleteJust finished the light upgrade to our 2016 Rubicon. Used stock wheels on an AEV carrier so I kept the top center light and added four LED's. It looks great!!! I got the metal dust shields from amazon and it worked great with the same LED's and connectors. Had two people follow me to see how it worked :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. I just did the install on my H3 and it looks amazing. BTW I used a pizza pan to mount the lights.
ReplyDeleteI did this mod today using your list of supplies and it turned out great. You did an awesome how to video. Thanks man!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the fun project. I used an alluminum disc for the backer plate. I work at sheetmetal shop. Came out real nice. Every one I see loves it.
ReplyDeleteI love it!!
ReplyDeleteHow much power does the stock third brake wiring harness handle? Why is it that you didn't use the stock taillight wiring?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the situation with the blinkers. I tried running a third break light once and it made the blinker not work and the break light never turned off
ReplyDeleteis it possible to still use the brake light i have now & have this ???
