This is in response to a recent inquiry/discussion I was brought into with regard to 4 point harnesses in the Jeep. I own 2 harnesses and a harness bar. I do not have them in the Jeep. This video explains why. I am not an expert. I just did a lot of research, and this is what I learned.
why not a roll cage and a 5 point setup wear a neck brace that alone protects you well since off road is slow speed. the helmet strap is for I've 90mph then it factors in most people in a normal car are dead at that point
ReplyDeleteInteresting point of view and makes sense. As a side note almost every helicopter I've ever flown has had 4 point harnesses in the front (pilot) seats. In order for them to work correctly the lap part of the belt needs to be below the waist and flat on the pelvis. The shoulder straps are snugged up last. The most likely impact for us crashing is vertical impact and potentially submarine.
ReplyDeleteThe name of the head restraint is called a HANS device. It significantly reduces the chance of whiplash.
great info and video, a very rational perspective.
