New St. John’s Rock ORV Trail and Campground Now Open, Effective July 23, 2017.


Maryland Department of Natural Resources has opened a new ORV Trail and campground on Savage River State Forest located on the south side of I-68 near the town of Finzel in Garrett County.

The Trail will be the first-ever ORV Trail on department lands designed specifically for ORV enthusiasts. Features will include:

A campsite specifically designed to support ORV riders, with large parking areas;


A family-friendly area with children’s trail loops within the campground area;


Single-track hare-scramble style trail sections for motorcycles;


Technical trail spur loops for all-terrain vehicles; and,


A full-size rock crawl area for four-wheel drive vehicles.




Notes:


Jeep and four-wheel drivers that will be on the trail or rock-crawl may not need parking, but a Day Use permit and reservation is still required to use the Trail.

Users must have a registered ORV with the Department of Natural Resources, or a MVA-tagged vehicle that is suitable for off-road use.

Advance reservations are required. To use the Trail and Campground, you must make advance reservations through the Department’s COMPASS system. Full payment is required to make a reservation through COMPASS. Reservations can be made for:

Chaos Off Road Park

Everything from mild to wild, imagine a skate park for 4×4’s!

While stock friendly, this park’s condensed terrain is steep and rocky. The part that’s different from the other parks is you can get to the unlimited level 11 trails with a stock 4wd.  This means that if you are doing something cool everyone can see it.

There is plenty of mud to get dirty if that’s what your into.

Rock Bouncers are welcome to come on up and see if they can conquer the hills.There are west coast size rocks there with huge ledges and hill climbs, if you are up for a challenge.

Chaos off-road park is located in the picturesque Capon Bridge, WV. Location coordinates for the park are  39.325783,-78.463951.  You can also “Google” Chaos Off Road Park. Make sure you are doing 20mph through town – they mean it!

It was time for my 500 mile break-in gear oil change....so I brought you along for the ride. I still need to change the front ProRock 44 gear oil, but that process is exactly the same, with the exception of the magnetic drain plug seen in in this video. So if you were wondering how to change your differential gear oil... maybe this will help.

Rear Axle Upgrades and Diff School - Part Five - Final Assembly and ARB Air Line

I decided to call this "Diff School" because when I was having my rear axle upgraded at World Tour Off Road in Annapolis, MD, Paul Warren spent a lot of time sharing his knowledge with me. I was expecting to cut most of this out of the final edits so I could put together a concise gear and axle swap video... but I realized that some of you, and I understand it won't be all of you, may find this as interesting as I did, and could perhaps get some value out of the small tidbits of information Paul passed to me along the way. I decided to call this "Diff School" because when I was having my rear axle upgraded at World Tour Off Road in Annapolis, MD, Paul Warren spent a lot of time sharing his knowledge with me. I was expecting to cut most of this out of the final edits so I could put together a concise gear and axle swap video... but I realized that some of you, and I understand it won't be all of you, may find this as interesting as I did, and could perhaps get some value out of the small tidbits of information Paul passed to me along the way. Superchips Trail Dash 2 (TD2) EAS Switch Wiring and Programming for ARB OBA

So one of the cool things about the Superchips TD2 is the ability to have up to four virtual switches. These switches can control anything, just like regular switches. I decided to use mine for my on board air compressor (ARB) and my lockers (also ARB).

This video is to show how I wired my air compressor and locker switches into the TD2 using a couple of EAS adapters (sold separately) and then how to program the TD2 to name the switches and rearrange them.
