ReplyDeleteLove mine for the Midland and Baofeng handhelds.

ReplyDeleteGreat video! So I have a serious question. And it's not a criticism it's a serious question. Why so much technology? By that I mean you have at least 3 screens for information. I understand you have cameras on the Jeep but isn't part of being on the trails out in nature being away from some level of technology? I get the comms are needed. Just curious because I'm in the Bicycle industry and I see how technology is slowly killing the purity of the spor I've been involved in my entire life. Just curious.
ReplyDeleteWhat VHF was that it looks compact
ReplyDeleteCool! Nice watch too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting question.... I've personally never seen off-roading/Jeeping as a "nature" type of activity. It's more about overcoming obstacles, navigation, getting together with friends, etc. I couldn't imagine being out without maps for navigation... or vehicle information (temps and systems status). I'm sure there are purists... who just want to go out and get away, but most everyone I know likes to use tech and it's part of the experience. I could see the issue a lot more with cycling, as you are experiencing...but then again, I like tech there too. I have a Trek Madone, and I have a display for it to track time and distance... so does that kill my experience, or help me track it? I guess it's personal preference. I use Strava to log my rides...

ReplyDeleteThanks! Was an anniversary watch from my wife a few years back. She got an upgraded wedding ring, and I got a watch! :-)

ReplyDeleteSolid kit for sure!
ReplyDeleteAwesome find. I have a metal one that goes in the same place, but no add on clip for handheld. I always wondered if the metal one with sharper edges would interfere with the air bag in case of deployment heaven forbid. This one also looks more tucked out of the way and appears to have a smooth positive slide in for the mic, contrary to the metal holder. Looks like I am making a switch. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteCPO how do you like that cobra hand held CB. Seems quite popular.. Been looking to getting a new CB but dont know anyone who has that one.
ReplyDeletePretty much everyone around here has that one! lol It's probably the most recommended CB for the "which should I buy" posts in our Jeep club Facebook group. :-) I like it because it's compact...the main unit is hidden away under the glove box, and the only exposed part is that mic, which has all the controls. I need an external speaker to hear it well... but that's an issue with any CB. It does have a built in speaker that isn't bad on the trail but not quite enough on the highway.

ReplyDeleteI have their model for my 2009 JK and my ICOM D-51 doesn’t lock on. Thanks for the tip! I will try flipping the insert!
ReplyDelete+1 on CPO. But you're gonna need a good external speaker. Got mine peaked by a local technician.
ReplyDeleteinstead of ham radio, the made sumthin for my scanner, I'd be all over that....
ReplyDeletePurist my a$$...I'm really tired of someone trying to define me. "You're not a real Jeeper" WTH. I do what I like with my Jeep and I go where I want to go. You want the definition of Jeep Life? Have fun, Live large. GO Jeepin'. Dang, I just sprained my ankle falling off my soapbox..... ;)
ReplyDeleteTechnician License?
ReplyDeletecontact them! They have some more universal mounts...

ReplyDeleteOVERCLOCK3D Jeeps fair enough...I was wheeling before we had all this information so it was a bit different....we saw it as a way to get into the woods and just have fun...so I guess if it adds to your experience awsome....as far as cycling...I raced Mt bike and road for about 20 years..just before the Lance era and into the era...I only dabbled in tech and I did ok for myself....I have a Madone also...I love it!!! Thanks for response...
ReplyDeleteOVERCLOCK3D Jeeps and also your a computer guy anyway right...so I TOTALLY understand....
ReplyDeleteTalez From the DashCam I just asked a serious question ...I'm not judging people by there choices...I have a different point of view and was just interested in his...not meant to pass judgement...just interested in his view and opinion..
ReplyDeleteI just got this microphone holder only for my Cobra 75. I wonder if I can add the holder for my Baofeng UV5.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so... its a separate part that has the slot to add in the top piece.

ReplyDeleteCPO, what kind of sweet mount have you come across for a TJ?
ReplyDeletewell... thats certainly a lot smarter than the ram ball mounts on the cellphone bracket in my '07. I have the radio face to my Yeasu FT8900 mounted off there. I'll have to see if there is an option for the 07-10 JK. I almost never use my HAM anymore anyway. Was thinking of removing it.
ReplyDeleteb1pig they do! I'm actually doing an installation video on that version later this week. Waiting for it to arrive.
