I learned to drive standard in my wrangler, give it a few weeks and it starts to get fun! Getting a standard was the best decision I made when I got mine. I hate driving automatics now
Thank you so much for these videos. They have been very helpful! They inspire me to do more work to my ‘04 Rocky Mtn. Ed. Keep ‘em coming and I’ll keep watching!
Btw, I have the Mammoth wheels on mine except they’re the bead lock looking kind. Nice set up though!
Good idea on teaching him standard. I had a similar experience. Learned how to drive in an auto then moved "up" to a manual after a few years. My parents tried to teach me when I was learning to drive and it was too much.
CJ's TJ looks great! Learning to drive a stick is the best thing to start off with. I hadn't driven a standard for 30 years or so when I got my 2011 JKU this summer. I was still like I drove one every day.
Nice!!! Dad seems excited!lol...I would leave the exhaust nice and quiet...but that's me...lol...looks like.it rides really nice...and yeah...when I rebuilt my YJ on my first ride I went through all that too...did I tighten this?, did I remember that???..ah yes good times...was wondering what's next on the list?
Adam Carollla has a great technique for manual transmission newbies. I’m glad your teaching your son this invaluable skill. I really enjoy your videos I’ve got a 2015 rubi jku in Anvil:) your the one that made me pull the trigger on Bartact seat covers:). Keep up the great videos , and keep us posted on the driving lessons!
Great to see the TJ up and running again! If you haven't, make sure and set the toe-in also. Love the Ultimate kit. Firm, sporty handling, but with a smoother than stock ride. He's going to love it!
Stick shift is the way to go! My son learned on an auto. His first car was a stick and he insisted on it. Then when he got out of college, he got a 2010 JK Stick, I had to wait until 2015 for the Craveman. Oh yeah, BTW VERY COOL.
Oh small EVAP leak..I remeber you well. With my old TJ, I noticed that almost every time I filled up and then got on the interstate, my check engine light would come on. The light would also just turn off after a few new engine cranks. Eventually I replaced my fuel cap and this stopped happening. Cool vid! Makes me miss my TJ a little (I have a JKU now)

Love it! I daily an 88 yj for my first vehicle. It had a sbc in it and so on. My Dad and I rebuilt it for me over 2 years, full project. I also have those tires! I recommend to take the air down to 25-28 psi. Rides a lot better and wears better.
Once he learns to drive stick he'll love it. I have a '00 TJ stick it is so much fun stick+top down, good times
ReplyDeleteFinally!! I ran that same kit on my '06 Rubicon. Great kit.
ReplyDeleteLove those wheels.

ReplyDeleteI miss my JK but my audi rides so... nice 🤷♂️
ReplyDeleteI've heard some TJs with super 10s flowmaster mufflers sound pretty cool. Nice looking TJ Cj is definitely going to enjoy it.
