I wanted a way to turn my LED side marker lights into blinkers on OVERCLOCK3D. There is a diy to do this with the incandescent bulbs but if you add any LED lights into the mix, it doesn't work. There was no product I could find to do this. I reached out to @custom_led_llc and within a couple of weeks I had a product in my mailbox. I just tested it and it works perfect! It's cheap too!

Thanks Jon, for making this happen! And fast!

Very cool, and a fast fix for anyone with flat fenders that doesn't want to run the factory lights.
ReplyDeleteOr if they have swapped the front grill turn signal/parking lights for LEDs.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting ready to swap to LED... so I was anxious to do this at the same time!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I have JCR steel fenders and those same LED side markers. I have been looking for a way to make them into marker/turn signals. Much safer. This is why newer cars have side marker blinkers. Saab started it years ago. Then BMW. Now almost everyone except Jeep.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteI hate that people next to me can't see my turn signal.... So in heavy traffic when I need to change lanes, they are oblivious. If I could show them a blinker, they'd be more likely to let me get over. I was going to DIY it, but it's a complicated circuit. These guys made it nice and tidy too. I am waiting to install the 3/4" led for when I do the fender upgrade (next week).
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] which fenders? I put Poison Spyder Crushers on the Wifey's Jeep. JCR Crusaders on mine. I like hers better. JCR is nice but crap coating. Net time buying raw and powder coating at a coating shop where they know what they are doing.
ReplyDeleteRod Toler I'm doing metalcloak overline. I had them powder coated there... Hopefully they did a good job.
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] Nice choice. Love Metalcloak stuff. I'm looking at their boatside sliders.
ReplyDeleteRod Toler I'm running the rh4x4 boatsides... :-)
ReplyDeleteThis type of mod has been around for awhile....was actually one of the first things I did to my jeep. These new modules look nice, a bit smaller and maybe easier to mount.

Howard Frantz that is one of the places I started with my research. That's a very convoluted solution to solve a simple task! More power to you... But it's basically wiring a whole new circuit rather than using what's already there.
ReplyDeleteHoward Frantz I take that back I was looking at the full install... The turn signal wiring isn't as bad. I can't recall now why I didn't like this solution without going back through it.... It may have been the price... I just don't remember now.
ReplyDeleteAre you watching the tv show Truck Night in America on History Channel
ReplyDeleteTheIndianahurricane of course!!!
ReplyDeleteFYI I don't own a Jeep, I have a 4x4 Tundra. I enjoy your video's
ReplyDeleteThis was one of the first mods I did to my Jeep, and that's the same wiring diagram I used. I hated that vehicles next to me couldn't see my turn signals.
ReplyDeleteDid you reuse the factory harness (connectors) for the side marker lights? I'm having an issue with getting both my side marker lights to work and was hoping to wire them to the turn signal using this. Any advice?
ReplyDeleteFor this video, yes... I just spliced into the wires, but left the factory harness and connectors. Can you explain what you have going on?
ReplyDeleteHello Howard, I read through the site you linked to very carefully and found that none of the solutions on that site produce the same result as the Blinker Genie 2. The Cross feed method also allows running light voltage to back-feed into the turn signal circuits through the lamps that are (mis)wired between the running light circuit and turn signal circuit. That means the other turn signals on the vehicle may stay illuminated, even the indicator lights in the gauge cluster! We have seen this countless times on motorcycles with LED signals all around, and the original Blinker Genie was developed to solve this problem. Continuing on, the module listed on that website for $59 has distinctly different functionality from the Blinker Genie 2 as well (and it's twice the price). I truly hope that our customer-requested NEW product serves the automotive community as well as our Blinker Genie has served the motorcycle community.
