=====================================

In this video I tell you about the Excalibur Remote Start capability in the Jeep Wrangler, and why you may or may not need to use that Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) wire, what Vehicle Learn Mode is, and how to actually set up remote start in your Jeep - yeah.. I'll tell you all about Manual Transmission Reservation Mode!

So you want to install an alarm system and remote start into your Jeep Wrangler? Well… this is the page for you! What follows below is the complete video series regarding the selection, overview, installation, setup, and howtos of the Omega Excalibur AL-1775-3DB security system and remote start I installed in my 2015 Jeep Wrangler with automatic transmission. If you happen to have the same vehicle (including similar years) then this page should be a step-by-step guide for you. If you have a manual transmission, there will be some additional steps and wiring for you, and what exactly depends on what year your Jeep is. I tried to mention some of those things throughout the video series. If you have a 2017 or newer, also note that the access to the ignition switch harness is a little different. I’ll also try and help you out there.

Please watch all of the videos BEFORE YOU START your own installation. This is important because I may point out things in later videos that would be helpful to know about early on. It’s just part of the process. Once I get into the install, I know more about what exactly needs to be done, versus what I believe needs to be done. A great example of this is the wiring for the parking lights. In the wiring prep video, I told you that you needed three wires for this because that was the industry standard based on how the Jeeps were wired. However, in actual testing during the install (and working closely with the tech guys at Omega Research and Development) I found that only one wire was really needed. So I modified the harness from the original 9 wires, down to 7!! BONUS!!!

  1. I’m glad you posted that video because I was about to do a remote start security system on a 2002 Jeep Wrangler and there is a good thing to know and I do love your videos

  3. Hey I enjoyed watching your videos in this series and look forward to the install video. I myself installed the Compustar CM7000 with Pro T11 remote in a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with Manual Transmission. I installed shock/tilt combo, glass break, and proximity sensors. I wanted to point out a mistake you made in describing the necessary wires to do the task of bypassing the clutch. You actually need a relay to do this function. You have to interface with BOTH the clutch interlock AND the clutch upstop wires. If you do not do the clutch bypass this way you WILL get a check engine light after the vehicle is remote started. The clutch switch is in a tough spot. It is on the driver side corner of the firewall roughly 12 inches down toward the ground. You will find 3 wires in this harness. One is NOT needed and the two that you will need are Yellow/Red and Green/Orange. You will use a standard Bosch style Single Pole Double Throw relay to do the task and will wire it as follows. The 86 pin to the (-) Status Output wire, the 85 pin to Constant 12v (+), the 87 pin to Yellow/Red. You will cut the Green/Orange wire and the plug side of the wire will go to pin 30. The other cut end of the wire will go to 87a. For reference, the Yellow/Red wire is the clutch interlock and the Green/Orange wire is the clutch upstop. There is a diagram from Fortin available on the internet. Do a google search for Jeep JK Clutch Bypass and then click on images and it should be there. Just wanted to point this out because I don’t want a DIYer to be doing his first remote start and see the check engine light on and think they messed up. Good luck on your install and thanks for making these vids!

  4. Forget to add that the absolute hardest part of the install is getting the steering column cover off. The “collar” of the steering column cover since insidethe steering wheel housing. Some guys have actually pulled the steering wheel off. I found a guy on a Jeep forum and followed his method. I used a 4” scraper and pryed it out little by little. In all honesty it took me a good half hour or so to pop it out. Very very lousy design. Good luck.

  5. Overclock3D, Are you going to finish the OME lift kit install on CJ's jeep? Been waiting for almost 2 months. What's up? .......YAR!!

  6. Absolutely! Actually I just picked up his wheels and tires last week. The rear is pretty much completed..but I wanted to put the new wheels and tires on when I put it back on the ground... it's going to be getting some love soon! Promise!

  7. Ahhh, yes. The 2017! Its a bit different. I got my ignition switch t-harness video posted last night and covered this for folks. Pulling the steering wheel out a bit (not off) is actually the best method according to those that do these installs for a living. I can only talk about it, since mine is obviously a 2015. When you watch video #5 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFDmTJ2ta1s) you'll be mad a me for how easy mine was to do! lol

  8. You are right about the relay in 2012 and up (or maybe 2011 and up) Wranglers.... They did make a change from the early years that required that relay to be added that wasn't required before. I think I may try and cover that in a separate video to help. It's tough to try and help everyone. If you have a auto trans Wrangler that is the same year as mine, I can tell you EXACTLY everything you need to do... but with the small differences year to year, or build to build... all I can do is try and get people close! Thanks for the info! I will def use it as a reference if I am able to do a follow up on this!
