[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm2i5OxW7E0&w=640&h=360]

In this video I perform my first oil change after having installed the Fumoto F106SX Drain Valve. Man, this was easy! If you want to see the installation video for the Fumoto, you can go here.

I also capture a sample of my oil to send to Blackstone Labs. More info on that here: https://www.blackstone-labs.com/

Oil analysis is a quick, nondestructive way to gauge the health of an engine by looking at what's in the oil. People use oil analysis for different reasons: to see if there are any problems developing, to see if their oil is working well in the engine, and to see if they can run longer oil changes. Get started with your analysis by ordering a free test kit.

  1. OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps no but it would be nice to see more channels submitting their engine oil like this.

  2. Now I wait for results... :-)

  3. How long is the wait time for the results?

  4. They say it could take 3-4 weeks.

  5. Have you ever submitted your oil to Blackstone Labs (or another lab)?

  6. Nevermind... I'm guessing the long arms happened.

  7. As mentioned in the video...I just haven't had a chance to install them yet. They're coming!!

  13. You caught me. That snorkel is one of the few installs that never made it to YouTube. I recorded it...but never got the footage edited. It is a Rugged Ridge modular, and I love it. I leave the low mount (what you see on the Jeep) and never felt like I needed to go with a high mount. I do notice it allows for cooler air intake as well, since it's drawing from outside of the engine compartment.

  14. OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps busted.. hahaha.. glad you like it.. I've been debating which to go with.

  15. The "problem" is it's virtually impossible to find an inner fender liner that will work with the snorkel without modification.

  16. OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps good point.. a couple other tubers mentioned that.. I've been split on going with this on or the AEV and not worry about the inner fender issues.

  17. I like these type of videos.. Well done as always.. I went back thru your vids and wasn't able to find one that outlined what type of snorkel (looks like Rugged Ridge) you use as well as how it's working for you.

  18. If you've been watching my YouTube videos, you may assume I'd be OCD about my OCI. I'm not. lol. To be quite honest, I don't even know how many miles I have on this sample. In the first year of use, my OCI was 3K. Then I started to trust the computer to tell me when to change the oil, and I've been letting it do it's thing. So I feel bad about saying this..but I didn't document the mileage on the last oil change. So I don't know! lol That's one of the reasons I wanted to do a sample...to see if the oil change algorithm was doing a good job or not. I used to have this nice app that I tracked stuff like that... then I lost all the data... and frankly just got lazy. I need to keep better track for sure. Doing this sample is the first step in trying to get back on track with maintenance.

  20. Another great video. Just curious as to what your oci is. I've always done 5k and the oil looks great. Going for 7k this time. I always use Pennzoil platinum full synthetic 5w20 for the most part but ran 5w30 during this past summer but honestly it was not a very hot summer and should've ran the 5w20. I am using a fram ultra synthetic filter good for 15k oci's (would never run my JK that long on any oil.) I think for my driving habits and that I mostly run highway with little if any stop go traffic that 7k should be a breeze. What are your thoughts? Can't wait for the Blackstone results video. That drain valve is awesome makes changes a breeze. Going to look into purchasing one. Again Thanks.

  21. Ha! It's going... slow. Right now the wheels and tires are at the shop getting mounted and balanced. The back end is done, and I figured I'd wait to pull it off jack stands until I could put the new tires on, then I'll move to the front. It's hogging up the valuable garage space... and soon I will have to kick it into high gear!!! lol

  22. Any progress on the TJ? How is the build going?

  23. For sure! That top mounted filter is the bees knees! Easiest filter changes I have ever had!

  24. I like that I don't have to lift the Jeep for oil changes, but hate the cleanup. My wife drives a BMW, her car I do have to lift, but it's a breeze to change the oil. It seems like you have the best of both worlds with the tall clearance and accessible filter lol.

  25. This is the first time I see an oil change on a 3.6L. I have the 3.8L and my oil filter is near the bottom, on the front of the engine. Pulling the filter out always makes a mess over the front axle. Having the filter on top makes changes so much easier.
