4 vs 5 Tire Rotation and How to Get 20% More Mileage from Your Tires - A Practical Demonstration

I often see the discussion come up regarding the benefits of the five tire rotation in comparison to a four tire rotation. The claim is often that you get 20% more tread life from your tires if you add your spare into the rotation. Well... not quite. You get 20% more MILEAGE on your vehicle before you need to buy tires. But, you do have to buy 5 tires instead of 4. However, there are some down sides to the 4 tire rotation... so I tried to cover that in this video.

    Also important to rotate the spare in so it doesn't degrade from UV and weather past the point of reliable use.

    That was a great demonstration and for all of those reasons is why I do a five tire rotation myself except I do them at 5000 to 6000 mile intervals or sooner depending on time because my wife uses ours for a daily driver and it gets almost no miles. 3-4,000 a year. Very good visualization except the M&Ms made me hungry ha ha excellent video.

    Awesome video! Our local stealership charges EXTRA for a 5 tire rotation..seriously, and they are a Jeep dealer. Go figure..lol
