Sorry for the wait, but here's the video and some photo footage from out run-in with the FCA Engineers who were out testing the 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL Diesels. They also had a JK that apparently has had a diesel in it for a couple of years, and a full size Dodge pickup. I left the footage raw so you can hear them... we didn't follow them around to get video all day, but when we ended up bumping into them on the trail, I tried to grab video to share! :-)
Sorry for the watermarks...but people have been screen-grabbing and re-sharing my content and claiming it as their own. I don't mind if you share, but please at least give proper attribution to @o3djeeps! www.o3djeeps.com

But does it have a manual transmission?
ReplyDeleteNope...
ReplyDeleteGeorge Schultz oh dam no manual trans : (
ReplyDeleteHate seeing the watermark, but totally understand why. ppl will take this footage in a heartbeat. thanks for the vid!
ReplyDeleteORAVEN , yep keeping that engine in the perfect rpm range for fuel economy and emissions may just be a large part of that. But who knows ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat does "FCA" (engineer) stand for?
ReplyDeleteFiat Chrysler Alpha Romeo
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about this. I'm a huge fan of diesels but at the same time you are also paying for an extra dpf, def every 5k miles or so for regens, an egr and you will be burned at the stake by epa witch hunters if you remove any of the aforementioned items. That whole combo adds a considerable amount of weight...more than a reasonable amount of armor would...say a new steel skid system (which btw will almost be necessary because if you bang up that dpf on the trail the Jeep will go into what's called limp mode, where you won't be able to drive more than 5 mph...ask me how I know this). Anyways that's my 2 cents. I wish FCA would just throw a hemi in one and stop toying around with the pentastars and the 2.0 turbos.
ReplyDeleteThey have had diesel jks in Europe for years...it’s how they sell them...
ReplyDeleteOoooo mannn!
ReplyDeleteYeah... unfortunately I've already found screen grabs from my last video posted as images so I feel like it's important that I can retain some of my claim to this footage.
ReplyDeleteYeah... @semyono11783 nailed it... FCA is the company that owns Jeep, and so it's basically corporate engineers out testing their products.
ReplyDeleteItalian diesel... Pfffft.. I'll pass...
ReplyDeleteThe only thing appealing to me about the JL is the diesel. I sure hope they release it, and with a manual transmission. Until then I have no reason to get rid of my JK.
ReplyDeleteF.I.A.T.= Fix It Again Tony.. that diesel has been nothing but trouble... I'll stick with my 3.6 pentastar.. its Cummins or isuzu or nothing for me.
ReplyDeleteI want diesel jl!!!
ReplyDeleteThe hell with the diesel,6.4L Hemi...
ReplyDeleteNice vid. Noticed the red rubi got some tail damage too - see at 5:15
ReplyDeleteWould be interesting to know if the JK diesel is the same engine as used in Australian market for last 10 years or new engine in test for JL
The guys seemed chilled and friendly
Cheers
Was the full size a diesel too? Possibly putting the diesel in the rebel trim package ( that’s what the truck looks like)
ReplyDeleteBut... Jeep is saying now, that the JL is likely to never have a coal burner.
ReplyDelete...and FCA will end ALL diesel powered options by 2025.
I wouldn't get too hyped up for the 3.0... I'm betting it's just going to be more vaporware.
Did you happen to ask what the E-Stop button is for in the center of the dash?
ReplyDeletejeep should stick with cummins 28r & dominate off road world on release
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the video content, except that you had it watermarked with your YouTube channel logo. Found it very distracting in the middle of the video. Almost didn't watch because of this. FFT.
ReplyDeleteSorry. Sometimes I have to take measures to protect my copyright content. You may not understand, but believe it or not people steal content and repost as their own. Generally not a problem, except for videos like this....
ReplyDeleteSurprised to see them testing the Rebel out there. Should of put it on Hells Gate, cake walk with the long wheel base.
ReplyDeleteIt’s amazing that you caught the Ram Rebel 1500 diesel!! That’s gonna be a hit when it comes up for sale.. the JK is a mule that TFL spotted last year up in the mountains of Colorado you should edit the Ram and make a separat video..
ReplyDeleteRIPPER334 only in Europe and that was Fiat only
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to realize that! lol I took your advice and just bumped out a short video with the Rebel footage. I just see "truck" and "Jeep" and go... ohhhhh JEEEEEEPPPPPP. hahaha
ReplyDeleteThey did not take the Rebel on Hell's gate... would have been cool tho.
ReplyDeleteI didnt
ReplyDeleteShame, I've walked all over that in my stock Power Wagon. I was impressed with the Rebel Press vehicle Ram sent us. A lot better with the new rear locker. Still needs more ground clearance though.
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] that’s amazing that you actually got that on video... I wish I could have seen that!! That’s gold all by itself!!
ReplyDeleteGive me a shout out please... that would be awesome
ReplyDeleteThat's right cuz I have one and it runs very good with lots of torque more than the 3.6 pentastar.
ReplyDeleteDiesel JK's have been out since 08! Look at the AC labels. Most of the dealers are morons and didn't even know they were available! One of my friends ordered one, it is the only way I would own a JK!
ReplyDeleteThey sell the JK diesel here is Australia since 07... Steve
ReplyDeleteThe Jk Wranglers in Australia come with a 2.8 ltr turbo diesel automatic or manual transmission.
ReplyDeletesemyono11783 it's fiat chrysler automobiles
ReplyDeleteNotice any crazy cooling fan noise from the diesel JLs as heard with the 3.6?? Sounds good from video but wondering in person.
ReplyDeleteI sure didn't notice anything... and I know what you mean. My fan is LOUD on OVERCLOCK3D!
ReplyDeleteLol I can totally see buddy the works at fca in the passenger seat of the red jl
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice the w m.....either way it doesn't bother me one bit....he just mad cuz he can't make a video using your footage...
ReplyDeleteIn Europe we have Diesel jks
ReplyDeleteAlso Diesel jls
ReplyDeleteEMU4WD in Europe we have 2.2 Diesel jls
ReplyDeleteI posted to our newJT page because Yes, we want the JT to have the Diesel at launch but I don't think it will be ready. We will know Wednesday. https://www.facebook.com/GladiatorTruck
ReplyDeleteSimon Elenor do tell where they are at in the USA legally?
ReplyDeleteGreat video !
ReplyDelete+Adam Westbrook you could order them through the dealership. Have a look at any US JK under the hood. The AC label will tell you.
ReplyDeleteSimon Elenor ok interesting to know
ReplyDelete+Adam Westbrook they really didn't do well with advertising the availability of diesel did they?
ReplyDeleteSimon Elenor considering I literally have not heard of one being sold in the USA, no they did not
ReplyDelete+Adam Westbrook one of my friends back in 2009 bought one. But not sure where he is now.
ReplyDeleteFIAT=Fix It Again, Tony.
