Honestly... Optima red top if you have the money. Otherwise, I've had good luck with the premium battery from AutoZone. The Optima is a great battery and had one in my last Jeep. I couldn't afford one when I replaced my original battery in my '07 JK. I got the premium battery from AutoZone and it has been excellent. I run a ham radio, cb and hifonics amp on my sub. My Jeep sits for weeks at the time without being driven, and the AutoZone battery has given me NO problems.
I replaced my stock ‘08 battery with an optima red top.... honestly because that was the response I saw most people give! Lol. But seriously, I’ve had zero problems in the last 4+ yrs I’ve had it. Now, I’m not running lights, winch, cooler, etc. off of it. That being said..... I’ve been looking into a dual battery setup for when I do add all those accessories and I found that the Dekka Intimidator batteries are comparable to Optimas ( on paper at least) but a bit less expensive, so I’ll probably go with them when I finally get a dual battery setup. If they are available in your area you might want to check them out.
The first battery on your list should be, Odyssey, amazing battery. I found myself in a similar situation as yourself in need of a battery and couldn't wait for a delivery. I went with Optima I have a yellow and red top currently in my Genisis dual battery setup, if you are looking for a dual battery setup Genisis is the way to go. Optima is not what they once were however I have not had any issue and in my case running a dual battery setup if I do have an issue on the trail I can easily filp to my other. And self jump with the press of a button.
Optima is the most overrated battery in the market, living off their name for over the past decade with antiquated tech. Finally revealed new yellowtop at this year's SEMA & implemented what half a dozen other AGM manufacturers have been using since the turn of the millenium. Look at the hard-core car audio scene, where these guys are running 60k watt systems...it's either Northstar or XS Power. Stock alt can easily charge AGM's, upgrade electrical to 1/0 OFC "Big 3"
I’ve been running a optima in my Jeep, I have yellow top. YELLOWTOP Deep-Cycle Battery: Use this when electrical loads are higher than average, or when the discharge cycle is more than typical engine starting, such as vehicles without alternators. This also includes vehicles with significant electrical loads that may exceed the average alternator output (for example, aftermarket audio systems, GPS, chargers, winches, snowplows, inverters, drag cars). This can also include vehicles that have a lot of electronics from the factory, such as a minivan with power sliding doors and a DVD player, especially if the DVD player is used when the engine isn’t running.
I follow your YouTube channel, I notice you do run a lot electrical toys, cameras, stereo, and alarm, so on and so on. I don’t have nearly as much hooked up...... yet. But I do run a yellow top.
Agm battery deal vibration and bums better by how they design then the plate and acid bath batteries. Also in a roll over they don't leak acid. That is why they are required by a lot lf racing bodies.

No.... I already tested for parasitic drain, and the alarm isn't pulling that much... way less than my camera that's been in it for over a year. I think it was just time to loose a cell! lol
I use a Thinkware F770, dual camera system. It basically always runs the battery down to my low voltage cutoff setting... every night. I've had it on for over a year, but it could be taking a toll on the battery, especially in times where I don't drive enough to recharge it.
As a former Navy submarine electrician, I can say that I don't understand why would the Jeep charging system be detrimental to an AGM battery. Coincidentally, my battery just died yesterday. I ended up getting an AutoCraft Gold at Advance Auto. I had a 25% off coupon and this battery is specifically designed for the warmer Florida weather. I also got a 3-year warranty. All for less than $130.
Red top, starting battery. Yellow top accessories. Your air compressor will thank you for the red top.
ReplyDeleteWhen my current battery goes, I will be going to odyssey. But that's just me.

ReplyDeleteDo you think this happened because of the new alarm installed? Because I have heard bad alarm can drain the battery completely

ReplyDeleteI went with a battery from Walmart for my JKUR. It wasn't too expensive and Walmart is everywhere in case I have a problem.
