  1. Cobra 75 has 4 memory channels. It also has that button for channel 9/19

Can it scan only the memory channels?

  4. yup. thats where I was talking about. My Yeasu chassis is up there and held in place with zipties. Been there since... uh... 2008? never an issue.

That's what excited me -- was the memory scan. Maybe I missed it on the Cobra75 if it has it.

  7. Well, if style points count - I think the Uniden looks better than the cobra

So I went for a short drive with the Uniden, and I can already tell you I like it better than the Cobra! I was concerned about the 3 squelch levels, but it turns out #2 works perfect at canceling my LED halo interference and still lets me get decent range (for how I use my CB). I tried the local setting, which cuts all the interference, even on squelch level 1, but range is cut dramatically. I like the high cut filter to take the edge of the higher pitched static... and don't seem to need the other filter at all. I will be doing more testing, and hopefully some A/B testing...but if I had to make a call right now... the Uniden wins.

It looks like you can only scan between two channels or all channels...but not a full memory scan.

  11. Wow, 3 squelch levels might be a deal killer for me but I could see where it would work really how often do I fine tune when I'm in a group... In Canada, these are about double the cost of a Cobra. Some reason Cobra is pretty cheap here.

I don't know if you saw my recently pinned comment, but I actually like it a lot... after a quick drive. I was constantly tweaking squelch with the cobra...but the Uniden on level 2 just seems to work perfect. I need more time with it...but there is some other filtering or noise cut going on that I cant quite put my finger on....

But.... I was surprised. I expected 7 levels or something like the volume....but three? lol

  14. the group I usually wheel with uses GMRS or FRS radios primarily, I am looking into stepping up into one of these Midland MXT275's that will be coming out soon along with getting a HAM operator license and HAM radio as well, since some folks have their HAMs. I am avoiding CB because it sounds really crappy for my already bad hearing.
