ReplyDeleteif your newer jk is like my '07, theres plenty of room. the chassis for my FT8900r is upp there to the left of the heater box. lots of room.
ReplyDeleteb1pig Thanks. I'm going to try and install it soon.
ReplyDeleteGoing to be interested to see what you think. I was just going to buy a 75wxst for one of my jeeps but might hold off. I think the size of that box is going to be the deal breaker for me since it is going in a TJ.
ReplyDeleteThx for pointing the first impression pros and cons

I thought you fell of the map never got notifications that you made any new videos so happy your still making them.
ReplyDeleteI may soon be looking to replace my Cobra 75 WX ST, and this looks interesting. The one thing that would’ve made the Uniden a no-brainer would’ve been the inclusion of a PA speaker output.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing your results after install!
You should go hit the bell on the subscription button so you don't miss anything... I put out several videos each month... and in some cases, several per week!
ReplyDeleteYeah... I was hoping...lol. It also doesn't have the weather channels...but I never actually use those.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... those are different that the dimensions in my video at 6:20
ReplyDeleteNot sure if my comment makes sense... but lately I've been wanting to swap my cb but I'm not sure if I have to re-tune my antenna if I get a new radio. CPO.. do you know if I'm going to have to re-tune?
ReplyDeleteWxGuy Yes... Anytime you change part of the cb/antenna combo you will need to check the tuning.
ReplyDeleteGet your HAM license much better in any situation.
ReplyDeleteJeff Rose I m a General Class HAM... But a CB is important because 99% of he people I wheel with use CB. I also keep a HT in the Jeep most times.
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] I saw that. Looks like the next model up has the weather stations, though.
ReplyDeleteI installed the Uniden CMX760 in my JK. Same as the 560 but has the NOAA weather channels. I was hoping to install the brain behind the glove box but it was a little too tight. I put it under the passenger side dash with the slide out mount which gives me easy access to the speaker and antenna connections and it does not get in the way of passenger legs. So far I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on the installation.
ReplyDeleteNo you absolutely do not have to re-tune if you keep the coax and antenna the same but only swap the radio. SWR and resonant frequency are a function of the cable and element only.
ReplyDeleteOne thing to note: the Cobra does NOT work with a rare earth magnet mount (e.g. the Magnetic Mic). The magnetic field will literally render the Cobra useless. I can't speak for the Uniden, but I have a hunch that it is not susceptible. NO issues with magnetic mic mounts and my Icom ham radios, but the "brains" (as you put it) are of course not in the microphones.
ReplyDeleteI'll being going to my radio guy for this....
ReplyDeleteI want to see the install.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see that
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparison. That helped my decision. Scott
ReplyDeleteYou do not NEED to re-tune the antenna, as the radio does not affect the impedance of the system, but it is good practice to at least check it any time modifications are made.
