WHY KOH?!
The King of the Hammers was founded by Jeff Knoll and Dave Cole in 2007, planned in a bar on a napkin. The founders decided that there should be a trial run with a few good guys and a chance to have some fun. There were only 12 teams at this first non-spectator invitational race, referred to as the OG13. The OG13 are always invited back to race year after year. All past winners, or Kings, are also invited year after year. The first official race was in 2008 and it was still a non-spectator race. There were approximately 50 drivers in the first official race. Race teams started at 30 second intervals from Means Dry Lake Bed at Johnson Valley, California and navigated through the desert on a 50-60 mile set race course to their first rock course. King of The Hammers race week has expanded from one race, King of The Hammers, held each year on Friday, to a series of 5 races held throughout the week. The races include King of The Motos on Sunday, The KOH UTV Race on Wednesday, The Every Man Challenge Race on Thursday, and a new ULTRA4 vs. Rock Bouncer shootout held on Monday night of race week.

I'm always looking for better ways to carry tools and such. BTW, what type of assault rifle is that in the bed? People see those on the hood occasionally. 🤭

  18. Aye Aye I hear ya loud and clear, I use a military surplus mechanics tool bag and finding the size wrench you need is a pain. I will check atlas46 for combination wrench tool rolls and reserve the tool bag for screwdrivers and pliers and such. Thanks for the heads up Chief.

I just took it down for the diabolical install just so I could get up in there and work. Now I am trying to decide if I want to re-install or change things up a bit.... but I haven't made up my mind yet.

  23. Yeah, I am using a large Yukon Outfitters Alpha backpack... But I am torn on finding something easier to carry... I have it so loaded up that trying to throw it on your back is work.

This seems like a good means to carry something and it might be a little bit tougher since it is designed to hold tools.

  24. How many tools do you really need to carry with you. Unless you have the parts that need to be replaced the tools do little good and take up valuable storage space. Honestly you only need a small assortment just to tighten things that became loose some white ties duct tape to hold things that broke loose and can't be tightened. The other thing with keeping all your stuff in one bag is if it is stolen. You made it convenient for the thrift just have to grab one bag and walk away. You then lost thousands of dollars worth of gear and tools in seconds.
