That's cool. I use to think of putting TJ parts on my JK. Some progress like you, some regress like me. I put the black textured rugged ridge hood latches on mine. Only problem with those are the plastic safety clips, they break. They made good on it though by mailing me replacements. I had them on too tight. Two months later and still good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the shoutouts! As for the discount code I actually found it on a forum and it applies to any products over 50$! Great idea about slotting the hood holes a tad in order to line it up better. Like always, great video!
ReplyDeletethere are tj parts on the jk. the hood latches are the same. just different sized for the rubber part that ends up getting stretched.
ReplyDeleteMine are being delivered tomorrow! :-)
ReplyDeleteJoe Stacks Too bad they didn't put the inline 6 in the JK. The 3.8 so far has been very reliable. Just doesn't have the low end torque of the 4.0
ReplyDeleteNice! Thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteNow figure out how to install them on the tj... :P
ReplyDeleteThat's the best kind of wife interruption.
ReplyDeleteI got a set coming.
ReplyDeleteYou going to the pa jeep show this year
ReplyDeleteSWBCrawler great idea !
ReplyDeletegonna grind the slots on the hood instead of drilling. Glad to see your video, a lot tighter. Its better leaving a little more metal on the hood slots, because even if you push them up a little and tighten them down on the nuts it could still loosen or slide down a little as time goes by and open up the gap on the hood. I wonder if its better to swap out the upper nuts to lock nuts or the nuts that have a grove on them that bite down and don't loosen up as easily.
ReplyDeleteHey I saw the same video and ordered a set immediately but moparpartsonline canceled my order and didn't put me on backorder. Did you give them your vin? I didn't because I thought they might cancel due to a mismatch. But now I'm wondering if I got canceled because I didn't give the vin. Any thoughts? I love your videos by the way. Great content.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered. Fun fact- if you order the 2 of each JL Latch: 68240952AD and
ReplyDeleteCatch Bracket: 68240951AB on that website- INSTEAD of together in the "JK upgrade kit"- it is $5.07 less.
I did this several months ago. I ordered my parts from MoparAmerica.com
ReplyDeleteI woulda liked doing this but already have the rugged ridge hinges on and I like them, nice install
ReplyDeleteThey look sweet. I’m still a little nervous about drilling in my Jeep though
ReplyDeletecouple non related questions. 1. Why did did you leave your engine cover off? 2. how do you like those tires? I have those tires and they are good on the road, but bad in mud.
ReplyDeletesean planning on it.
ReplyDeleteDamian Waller I didn't give them any info about my Jeep.
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] you wouldn’t remember me lol 😂 but last year at the show we were talking about you were missing a spider webshade ball ,and I have the front Rusty’s cage , anyways I’ll be at the show , take the tj lol
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] ok I'm going to try again. Maybe it was a fluke.
ReplyDeleteI love the design of your hood decals. Were they done custom or did you order them off of a website?
ReplyDeleteRod Hughes I made the design and a local guy cut them for me.
ReplyDeleteI wish you would've showed us how much you slotted the holes so we can just do that instead of drilling out to 3/8 like you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteBill Braski It might be different for you... So I'd just take a little off at a time and keep checking. You can just put it on without slotting first, and then look at the gap and see how much you need it to lower....and that's how much to slot it.
ReplyDeleteIf you could do it over again, would. you have drilled it to 3/8? Or would you have just slotted the holes? Do the studs on the JL latch fit the holes of the JK as is?
ReplyDeleteCool mod! Really enjoying the channel.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll try that.
