Been thinking about getting one for a while now. This looks like a decently priced unit with super easy install. Thanks for the vid
ReplyDeleteHave you used this to record your off-road adventures? If so pros/cons?
ReplyDeleteNo... but I have recorded with my camera in OVERCLOCK3D... It's a Thinkware F750 with 770 firmware.... It's a 1080P camera (so not quite as good of resolution as this, but here's a video to show you what that looks like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e6eMYzKijs
ReplyDeleteI think I may just hardwire it into the fuse box behind the glovebox. I want to have him run it like this for a bit before I make it any more permanent, to make sure it's all good.
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] have you done a video of your electronic add-ons? Would love to see how you mounted everything.
ReplyDeleteWhy not use the power to map lights in the rear view mirror? Thats how I tapped in for a radar,
ReplyDeletewalmart has 10' mini usb cords
ReplyDeleteYou can not cut the end of and hard wire it. The cigarette plug drops the voltage to the dash cam. If you run 12 volts to the dash cam you will let the magic smoke come out.
ReplyDeleteKirk Armstrong That is correct. I'd have to use a 5v regulator. I have a few laying around from my RC stuff..... When I was building fpv flyers that used the same micro USB power sources. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a Thinkware X500. Never did an install video tho. Check out the vid "Dang Deer" on my channel for the camera in action.
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] that should work fine.
ReplyDeleteWhat dashcam do you have in the JK? I remember seeing in your security install that it also records the cabin and is always on unless that was a different video that I’m recalling?
ReplyDeletewhat dash cam do you have in your JK. I remember in one of your past videos long time ago you mention that it will record anyone that enters the jeep too when you have your top off. correct me if i'm wrong but thats what i want too or do you just turn the dash cam around and let it run while your in the public parking lot while you shop. thats what i'm looking for when i take the top off my JK Thanks for the vid btw
ReplyDeleteWhen I installed a Magellan GPS, radar detector and Sirius radio in my vehicle, I mounted a three way power port under the dash hidden that was switched with ignition. When I started the the vehicle everything turned on and appeared that everything was hardwired to the vehicle, but everything could be removed and moved to a different vehicle if the original vehicle was sold.
ReplyDeleteWhat mirror is that??? I knew jeeps have a plug in the dash for them but how do you get an electric mirror
ReplyDeleteIt's just a factory mirror... it was an option for the 04, which is what we have. It has a temp and compass reading.
ReplyDeleteI have a dual camera F750 (with F770 firmware) in the JK. It has parking mode when hardwired, and either does motion or timelapse recording when the Jeep is off. I mounted the second camera (which is designed to point out the back window), above the rearview mirror and pointing back... which captures the interior.
ReplyDeleteGood Idea,
ReplyDeleteBecause I still need to convert to 5v, and it's easier to do from below.
ReplyDeleteo3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] thanks so much. So you have 2 cameras! Awesome. I will do the same. Keep up the awesome videos
ReplyDeleteHey always nice videos, which one are you using in JK , I remember you mentioning draining the battery.
ReplyDeleteAlso, how is the alarm in JK working do you still have the same alarm system or a different one?
Thanks in advance
