These are the Quick Grip QG2826 ladder style with V-bars...and they offer great traction. This model number fits my tires, which are 35x12.50R17.

Cool challenging trail near Leadville, Colorado. Water crossing plus rock obstacle. Going up was a little easier. I could have done the down side better... I wanted to be a little more driver at the end, and when I tried to correct, I couldn't because there was now a rock stopping me at the rear bumper. A couple of attempts to back up and move more driver resulted in sliding even more passenger...so I ended up just rolling with it. Super fun!

Steer Smarts HD GRIFFIN and YETI Steering in action

This is just a few minutes of video footage of the Steer Smarts HD Griffin and complete YETI steering assembly in action. This was essentially a test drive after install. It's unfortunately not super exciting video, and it's probably hard to tell - but there was a significant difference in feel over the stock steering assembly.

The HD GRIFFIN for the YETI draglink is expected to be available for sale in August 2016. However, the GRIFFIN attenuator for the stock drag link is currently in stock. http://steersmarts.com

This whole assembly is pretty amazing! Steer Smarts is not new to steering. In fact, steering has been their entire business for 85 years! they are manufacturers of many OEM steering components for many vehicles (many are heavy trucks) on the road today. They have several patents for the steering innovations they have designed. They have only recently broken into the aftermarket realm in providing the Griffin and YETI components for the Jeep Wrangler...but the design comes with many years of experience and testing. These guys know steering!

OCC Trail - Chaos Off Road Park May 15, 2016

This is a CAT 3 trail that is fun and challenging (especially without lockers). It's hard to tell from this video, but there are big holes an boulders at the top, along with tree roots that provide no traction, and force you into spots you don't want to be. Finding traction and the correct position at the same time is the key. This wasn't my best attempt, but I still made it through without a spotter or any trail damage. The straight exit is known to take out mirrors and rear quarter panels. I've gone out there before, but lately that section is so dug up that I can only seem to exit to the left - which is hard in and of itself.

At Chaos ORP, the following Categories are used to help drivers match to the various trails and obstacles:

Cat 1 if the following applies:
• AT type tires and
• No lockers and
• No lift and
• No armor or
• Have limited wheeling experience or
• Want to take it easy or
• Not disconnecting front swaybar or
• Not willing to play on rocks

Cat 2 if the following applies:
• MT tires and
• Have at least one locker or
• Have wheeling experience at one of the following locations: The Cove (Big Dogs),
Rausch Creek, or Red Cloud, or have taken 201 training and otherwise believe you and your
vehicle are up to negotiating rocks, steep descents, and off-cambers.
• Small lift kit and armor suggested

Cat 3 if the following applies:
• At least 33" MT tires and
• Have two lockers and
• Have a lift kit and
• Are lifted and
• Are very comfortable in rock gardens, downhills, and off-cambers

Cat 4 - Buggies and dedicated trail rigs suitable for Rausch Creek reds or very hard Big Dogs trails.

Just a quick video showing how I chose to help ensure a friend of mine didn't roll his Jeep when he ended up in an off camber situation on the trail today. It was an awkward position for him to be in, regardless of how he got there, and he was clearly uncomfortable during this point.

My solution involved strapping the winch line to his roll bar, using a snatch block fixed to a tree to hold his rear end down as he maneuvered out of the troubling spot.

I would 100% do this again the same way if it happens again. We got out of their safely, and that's the goal.

The world’s first splice on synthetic rope shackle mounting thimble with rope protection and integrated rubber pad.

The unique machined rope passage provides a tough outer barrier to protect against rope impact and abrasion as well as UV exposure protection. Compatible with synthetic ropes up to 1/2″ in diameter.

The Factor 55 ProLink:

Replace conventional winch hooks with the new safer, stronger, and smarter Factor 55 ProLink shackle mount.

Factor 55 introduces the new ProLink shackle mount for winch cables and synthetic ropes. Engineered and machined in the USA from lightweight billet 6061 aluminum, the ProLink provides a safe means to easily attach a standard 3/4″ screw pin shackle to existing winch cable and rope eyes The cable or rope eye is captured into the body of the ProLink by a removable oversized 5/8″ double shear pin. The front of the ProLink provides the precision shackle mounting hole and massive 1.2″ thick mounting tab. The ProLink is compatible with both Hawse and Roller fairleads and snugs neatly against both versions.

The advantages of winching with a screw pin shackle over a conventional winch hook are many:

Screw pin shackles are up to 5X stronger than conventional winch hooks
Conventional hooks are too small to safely fit both ends of a recovery strap
Recover straps cannot slip out of a shackle like they can with hooks
Hook safety latches are not rated for loads and can tear recovery straps
Conventional hook surfaces add higher stresses to recovery strap fibers, resulting in decreased strap ratings
Shackles can be quickly removed and stowed away until needed for winching.
Hooks do not cinch neatly against fairleads and are prone to rattling and loosening
Conventional winch hooks are designed for chains – not commonly used recovery straps

Fairlead Opening Modification

Its a good idea to make sure your fairlead opening is clear of anything that your winch line could rub against. I've been meaning to take care of this for a while, and I finally got it done. The fairlead slot on my Barricade bumper was just a little narrower than the aluminum fairlead that came with my winch. This is one leg of our Rocky Run adventures in the George Washington National Forest. I led the run from the top down, and my friend on the motorcycle led back up to the top. This is from the bottom (where we ended at a locked gate) back up to the staging area. I figured the video was more interesting with him in front of me. I will also post another video of the 2nd Mountain Trail in this same system.

It was super fun to run with a bike...and surprisingly we were fairly equally matched. There were some spots the bike was better capable and then there were other areas where OVERCLOCK3D excelled.

Just a quick video showing my BUDGET portable 12V air compressor purchase. This is made by Q-Industries, and is the same as the MV-50 Superflow or Smittybilt. Rumored to be made by the same people who make the Viair 400P, but Viair has stated this is not true. I don't have a Viair, so I can't confirm one way or the other. It comes with a Type-M fitting to fit the standard air hose connectors....which is really nice!

Barricade Rock Sliders Installation (Long Arm Lift)

This is a very quick install video for the Barricade Rock Sliders from Extreme Terrain. It really is as simple as pulling the body mount bolts, putting in the sliders, and re-torquing the bolts. I, however, have a custom long arm suspension which required a little extra modification. It was really easy, even with that. I don't think I mentioned this in the video, but if you do any cutting on the sliders, make sure you repaint any exposed metal to protect against rust.
